SAT Score Predictor and Goal Planner

Start with real section scores, measure the gap to your goal, and use practice evidence to decide what to study. Dolphin unlocks a projected score after it has enough performance data to make the estimate useful.

Quick answer

Can you predict a digital SAT score from the number correct?

Not exactly with one universal conversion. College Board uses multistage adaptive testing and Item Response Theory, so two students with the same number correct can receive different section scores. Use a scored Bluebook test for a current baseline and enough repeated practice data for a useful projection.

Interpret the result

Use the gap to choose evidence, not promises

  1. Use section scores from an official SAT report or a scored Bluebook practice test.
  2. Start with the lower section, then inspect its domain and skill results before choosing drills.
  3. Track accuracy, difficulty, pacing, and repeated mistake patterns instead of chasing a points-per-week formula.
  4. Take another full-length test after a focused study cycle and compare the error pattern, not only the total.
Why the planner does not ask for a raw correct-answer countCollege Board states that digital SAT scores reflect the characteristics of the questions answered and the pattern of responses. A single generic raw-score conversion would create false precision, so this tool works from section scores that have already been scored.

SAT score FAQ

What the numbers can and cannot tell you

Can an online calculator predict my exact digital SAT score?

Not from a generic raw correct-answer count. The digital SAT is multistage adaptive, and College Board says scores depend on question characteristics and answer patterns. Use a scored official practice test for a current score and practice data for a trend-based projection.

How is the SAT total score calculated?

The official SAT total score is the sum of the Reading and Writing section score and the Math section score. Each section ranges from 200 to 800, producing a total score from 400 to 1600.

What does the Dolphin planner calculate?

It adds your current official section scores, compares the result with your target, and identifies the lower section as a place to investigate first. It does not claim that a certain amount of practice guarantees a specific point gain.

How does Dolphin create a projected score?

Inside Dolphin, the projected score becomes available after enough practice evidence is collected. It is paired with skill mastery and recommended practice so the projection can guide a study plan instead of standing alone.
